Appliqued butterfly wings, beaded silk, African mud cloth and Salish weaving are a few of the materials and techniques used to make this 36-metre tapestry a masterpiece of textile artistry. The Quilt of Belonging's 263 blocks, made by representatives of all Aboriginal Peoples and immigrant nationalities in Canada, reflect the unique beauty of each culture's heritage. Feb 12 - 28th (and longer), The LQG Olympic Challenge with the Laurentian Quilters Guild from Quebec will be on display at the Fort Langley National Historic Site will be displayed in the "Big House" within the Fort as part of a special Olympic "Gold Rush" celebration happening daily.

Mar 29 - Apr 9 FIBRE IN THE FOREST. THE VANCOUVER GUILD OF FIBRE ARTS will be celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2010 with a fibre retreat in the beautiful forests of Loon Lake Camp, B.C. The two week retreat runs from March 29 through April 9, 2010 and will offer workshops in surface design, draping for sewing, lace knitting, collage, quilting, mark making on cloth, book making, doll making – to name a few – as well as areas for self directed work. The daily cost will be $200, which includes workshop fee, meals and room.

The calendar section lists the amazing roster of instructors (leaders in their respective fields) that we have scheduled. Come join us for workshops or doing your own thing under the trees. This is a great chance to free your creative spirit.
