About seven years ago I decided I wanted a quilt.  Not something purchased but something someone had handmade.  My husband and I were in Hawaii and I fell in love with Hawaiian quilts but I couldn't figure out how to stuff one in my suitcase to bring back home!  About three years ago we spent a week or so in Nova Scotia and I spent some time looking over the quilts there.  That is when I found out how much they cost!  I figured I'd be able to make one - after all, I'd been sewing most of my life how difficult could it be?  Famous last words!

I finally decided to make one for my Father shortly after he had a stroke.  I was smart enough to pick a very simple pattern using just 4" squares.  I look back now and see how ironic the fabric choice was.  I used flannel with fishing lures on it - and that was me - I caught the quilting bug 'hook, line and sinker!

I discovered QNN (Quilter's News Network) the first month they became operational and have learned many, many techniques.  I keep it running in the background all the time!
