Song written for the 2008 Fall Retreat

(Sung to the tune of "Camp Granada")

Hello husbands, sons and daughters
Here we are at - Camp Granada
We'll be sewing, we'll be stitching
And there's no one here to interrupt our bitching.

No more cooking, no more cleaning
Our lives have a - whole new meaning
We wear PJ's, robes and slippers
And accessorize our outfits with seam rippers.

Plaids and stripes and something dotty
We're all being rather naughty
Using fabrics not in order
Who would ever think of batting for a border?

Take me home my back is aching
They all snore, and no one's faking
Take me home; oh please don't make me stay
Oh no, I've been here one whole day.

We love chocolate, we love popcorn
Some stay up and - stitch until morn
Eating junk food makes us happy
But my morning it's a given we'll feel crappy.

It's all giggling, it's all laughing
And we might be even Pfaffing,
There's a Husky, a Janome
The Bernina's on the counter back at Homeeee.

What we're doing - isn't easy
Though we might sound rather cheesy,
No recording - no rehearsing
We'd appreciate it if there was no cursing.

Take me home my back is aching
They all snore and no one's faking
Take me home; oh please don't make me stay
Oh no - I've been here one whole day.

We are known as - Round the Blockers
Oh my gosh that rhymes with knockers!
They're non-existent or they're swinging
We apologize for all this stupid singing.

Song written for the 2007 Fall Retreat

(Sung to the tune of "A Few of My Favourite Things")

Pfaffs and Janome, Bernina and Husky
rulers and cutters and pins that aren't rusty
Tension that's even and geese with their wings
These are a few of my favourite things.

Walking feet, needles and threads of all colours
Patterns and fabrics and hot tea with crullers
Quarter inch seams that i sew while I sing
These are a few of my favourite things.

When the thread breaks, when the blade's nicked, when my points look sad
I simply remember my favourite things, and then I don't feel so bad.

Trips to the US and stops at the border
Who knew that I would become such a hoarder
Stashes get bigger and credit cards sing
These are a few of my favourite things

Books and design walls, scissors and cotton
Appliqué, ditch stitch and piecing that's spot on
Free motion quilting that goes round in rings
These are a few of my favourite things

When the day's done, and my brain's numb, and I'm going mad
I may be off kilter but I am a quilter, and so I don't feel so bad.
